Katara Cultural Village

The new David Morris flagship boutique at Katara Cultural Village in Doha is where architectural symmetry meets Eastern craftsmanship, reimagined through a Western lens. Designed by Studio Eivind, the 1,400-square-foot space draws from Greco-Roman ideals of proportion – notably Palladio’s Villa Rotonda – and the meditative calm of Arabic courtyard architecture.

At its heart lies an octagonal salon: a contemporary take on the classical rotunda, anchored by a vast mosaic floor in Grigia Luna and onyx. Composed in concentric rings, the pattern gestures toward both celestial orbits and desert medallions. Nero Portoro marble, with its gilded veining, wraps the walls in quiet opulence, evoking Roman villas and Renaissance interiors. Onyx, long prized for its protective symbolism, lends the space a sense of permanence and sanctuary.

Overhead, a monumental chandelier – designed by Studio Eivind and hand-blown in Murano by Mazzega – forms a radiant crown of glass and brass. The architecture creates a rhythm of arches and axial symmetry, where integrated vitrines provide areas for private consultations. A dialogue between weight and light, the boutique is an immersive study in craftsmanship, culture and spatial narrative.
